History

In the spring of 1991, an assortment of insurance companies doing business in South Dakota felt a need to form a new organization that would represent their interests and also be a clearing house for legislative information and educational activities. The original founders were both stock and mutual, both large and small, and these characteristics are essentially the same today. While diverse in characteristics, the Alliance programs became forums to air and discuss many of today's topics confronting the property and casualty industry, at the state, regional, and national level. The Alliance is an incorporated, nonprofit organization domiciled and regulated by the State of South Dakota.
